Title says it all, there is a new bug out and about; well, I shouldn't really call it a bug considering it will totally ruin your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. This new issue pretty much affects all 64-bit iOS devices; that is pretty much every iOS device available today. Well what exactly happens?
Before you start anything, let me tell you one thing straight forward. Whatever happens do not change the time settings in your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to January 1, 1970. Once you do that and restart your iOS device, it's never going to wake up. It's going to get bricked!
Why January 1, 1970? We don't have an exact answer to that yet but the date is important in computer science because that is the time from when all machines started their 'time counting'. The date is also known as Epoch time or POSIX time.
A post on Reddit brought this issue to the spotlight, which might have been a bad thing considering a lot of people have since then bricked their iPhones, iPads and iPod touchs'.
Until Apple releases a fix for this issue, do not replicate this on your iOS device or any of your friends or family. If you are worried that someone might do this to your iPhone; there is atweak in Cydia which will prevent malicious users from entering the specific date. It's called 'BrickingDate'. So download that.
As I mentioned before, do not try this on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.
