Why Is Apple’s iPhone 5C So Expensive?

BY FARHAN - SEPTEMBER, 14TH 2013

The release of the iPhone 5C has shocked many people – not the smartphone itself, but the way Apple has priced it. Many people around the world who were waiting to buy aniPhone 5C were left in a bit of shock when Apple announced the price. A factory unlocked 16GB (base model) iPhone 5C starts from $549, which as you can imagine is quite expensive. So why has Apple priced the iPhone 5C a bit too expensive? Let's look at some of the reasons.

Expensive iPhone 5C

10 September 2013, the day people around the world got to see two new iPhones being released at the same time – next-gen iPhone 5S, and iPhone 5C. iPhone 5C is the device which was expected to be "cheap". Rumors of this device started since the beginning of this year; "cheap iPhone to be launched", "Apple's cheap iPhone ready" – these were some of the headlines you were used to seeing. But as soon as the price of the iPhone 5C was mentioned – all hell broke loose.

People took their frustration on social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter. There were many angry Tweets and Facebook statuses, which were all aimed at Apple for being too greedy. Many of you might agree with this but there is a much deeper reason on why the iPhone 5C has been priced so high.

After all $549 for a rumored budget iPhone is way too expensive!

It Was Only A Rumor

Do you know why you are complaining that iPhone 5C is really expensive? You might not know, but it was the thought in your head, that Apple was going to release a cheaper version of the iPhone which made you think that iPhone 5C is expensive.

If all the rumors regarding a "budget iPhone" were the opposite, i.e "Apple releasing an even more expensive iPhone", you would have been pretty happy with the price of the current iPhone 5C.

After all it was only a rumor. And, like with all rumors you shouldn't take them all seriously – only a fraction of some of the rumors turn out to be true.

Check out the complete review of the iPhone 5C!

iPhone 5C Is Better Than iPhone 5

Another misconception many people have in their mind is that the iPhone 5C is worse than iPhone 5. In fact it is the opposite; iPhone 5C, in terms of specifications and overall performance is better than iPhone 5!

You are actually paying less for a slightly upgraded version of the iPhone 5 – which isn't really bad after all.

iPhone 5C which is available in multi-colours has made an impression on you that it is supposed to be cheap. The polycarbonate body of the iPhone 5C gives the impression of "cheap" but when you hold it in your hands, it does feel sturdy and quite good.

When you hold iPhone 5C and Samsung Galaxy S 4 in your hand then you might be able to judge better if the iPhone 5C is "cheap".

Apple Is A Brand

Most of you are forgetting that Apple is a brand. And, brands are expensive. Have you ever seen Lamborghini release a cheap car? You can't even imagine that in a million years.

The same goes for Apple. It was kind of very stupid of us to even think that Apple would release a cheaper iPhone – it is a brand, and brands charge premium for their products.

iPhone 5C is expensive, no doubt about that, but Apple was no-way going to release a cheaper iPhone with the same features (or a bit improvised) of that of an iPhone 5.

Well, do you think iPhone 5C is worth the money?

Microsoft Buys Nokia

Why Microsoft Buying Nokia Is A Win-Win Situation For Everyone

By now most of you have probably heard that Microsoft has bought Nokia for a cool $7.2 billion. This news has shocked many people around the world, as nobody really expected Microsoft to completely take over the Finnish company. Once a mighty company which was the sole champion in the phone market has now come to an end. But is it really bad news for Nokia or Microsoft? Well, actually it is a win-win situation for both the companies and the final consumer – that is you! Check out the reasons why Microsoft buying Nokia is a win-win situation for everyone.

Why Did Microsoft Buy Nokia?

If we are to understand why it is a win-win situation, we first have to answer; why didMicrosoft buy Nokia? After all Microsoft was already working with other smartphone vendors such as Samsung and HTC. So why buy Nokia?

The answer is kind of obvious; competition!

Microsoft is facing an ever-increasing competition from tech companies such as Google, Apple, Samsung and others. The one thing common all of these tech companies have, is that, they manufacture hardware themselves. And, having their own hardware is extremely important. That’s why Google bought Motorola – it needed a hardware company.

That’s the reason why CEO Steve Ballmer was pushing for Microsoft to buy a hardware company. And, as it turns out Nokia was the help line.

Why Did Nokia Sell To Microsoft?

The next question we should be asking is “why did Nokia sell itself to Microsoft?”. It’s a valid question, considering Nokia sells millions of phones around the world and is a multi-billion dollar company.

But if you are to look at the recent numbers regarding Nokia smartphones sold around the world, then you would know that Nokia is in trouble. Nokia’s last quarter sale were down 24 percent compared to previous year. The feature phones market, where Nokia has a stronghold also saw a deep decline as Nokia sold 39 percent less phones. This shouldn’t come as surprising considering many people are now opting for smartphones – where Apple and Samsung (Android) are dominating the market.

Nokia needed an exit strategy – and, Microsoft was there to provide it.

What Do They Each Benefit?

Each company has to keep their shareholders happy, either by selling itself or buying another company.

Nokia had a bleak future as the Lumia series did not perform as well as expected. Although it did sell literally millions of smartphones around the world, but the shiny new Metro tiles were a bit too different from the icons we have been used to. So Nokia didn’t want to go bankrupt after some years, it need to sell itself to keep its shareholders happy.

Nokia’s shareholders get the entire chunk of the $7.2 billion – which is a lot.

So what does Microsoft benefit? As mentioned above Microsoft now gets to choose what kind of hardware the next Lumia will have.

What else does Microsoft get for paying $7.2 billion? Check out this list.

§  Nokia’s entire smartphone department.

§  Nokia’s design team.

§  Hundreds of patents (these days it seems these are very important).

§  HERE mapping technology.

How Will This Deal Benefit The Consumer?

This is the thing you will be most interested in. How is this Nokia-Microsoft deal going to benefit you, the final consumer? In the short-term it won’t, but in the long-term it will.

So how exactly is this win-win situation for everyone? Microsoft’s acquisition of Nokia will mean that Microsoft will now have a greater control on the smartphones being produced by Nokia.

Considering Microsoft is a tech titan, up-coming Lumia smartphones will have better features overall (if Microsoft decides so). Microsoft also currently has $68 billion in cash which it can use to completely revamp the Lumia series or introduce a new range of smartphones or other tech.

Well, what are your thoughts on the entire Microsoft-Nokia deal?

How To Get Unlimited Free Candy Crush Lives

How To Get Unlimited Free Candy Crush Lives

Candy Crush is undoubtedly one of those addictive games that needs no introduction. This puzzle game that might look simple at the beginning, drives you crazy in just few levels. But sometimes, when you are at the peak of excitement for the game, suddenly your lives finish and the game provides you options to either spend some dollars or beg you friends for a life. Otherwise you have to wait for some half an hour to get back your lives. Therefore we have brought you this guide about how to get unlimited freeCandy Crush lives.

Free Lives On Candy Crush

In the game, you are displayed with a lot’s of different colored candies that you have to match in the pair of three or more to clear them. Each time you try to score higher than your friends but some levels are too hard to be cleared in one try. So in such cases you have try again and again to clear it. However, unfortunately Candy Crush offers you only five lives at a time and once you get over them then you have to wait for at least thirty minutes to get your lives back. Well there is a way to get free Candy Crush lives!

No need to worry because Maypalo has brought you a cheat, through which you can trick the game. In this player actually manually changing the smartphone’s internal clock to bypass the waiting period and trick the game into replenishing his lives without the actual passage of time.

Follow the few simple steps below to get your Candy Crush lives refilled.

Step 1: Once your lives are over, end the game and go to the internal clock of your smartphone. If you are an iPhone user then tap the main Settings icon followed by the General option and Date & Time.

Step 2: Now manually change the time of your phone. Make sure to set your time at least two and half hours or a full calendar day ahead to ensure all five lives get replenished. For iPhone, toggle off the Set Automatically time option, select Set Date & Time and use the vertical slider to set time or date that you want for the game.

Step 3: Now head back to the Candy Crush and you will have free full lives.

If you have followed all the steps carefully you should have free Candy Crush lives, whenever you want!

But there is a slight catch. If you reset your time you might be many cycles back, which means you will have to wait a very long time. In order to avoid this complication, simply uninstall the game and then install it again.

Did you find this guide to get free Candy Crush lives helpful enough?

install apps to iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch without iTunes

This quick tutorial explains how to install applications on your iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch without using iTunes.

1.    Download CopyTrans Manager, our free iTunes Alternative from the following page:

2.

3.    http://www.copytrans.net/copytransmanager.php

4.    Install the program. If you need help installing CopyTrans Manager, please refer to this article

5.    Open CopyTrans Manager and connect your iPod Touch, iPad or iPhone

6.    From the left pane of the main CopyTrans Manager window click on “Applications” under your iDevice name. This is the list of apps installed on your device. If you do not see “Applications”, this means that you haven’t yet installed any applications on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch. Now click on the “Add tracks” button at the top of the program window

7.

8.    From the file browser, navigate to the application(s) you want to install. iOS applications have the *.ipa extension and can be found in the “My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Mobile Applications” folder

9.    Next select the iOS application(s) you wish to add to your iDevice and click “Open”

10.

11. Now click on the “Update” button in order to install the apps on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch

The selected apps have been installed on your iPhone.

If you have trouble installing apps check whether:

·         it’s a cracked ipa – CopyTrans Manager only installs genuine apps

·         the app is for a newer iOS version than the one on your device (i.e. iOS 6.0 app will not install on iPhone running iOS 5.0)

·         the app is for another iOS device model (i.e. trying to install an iPad app on an iPhone)

Invite all Facebook friends Secret

Invite all Facebook friends Secret

The new Facebook won't let you invite all your friends with one click, but I have found a little snipped of Java code that will let you do this. This could be very useful if you have hundreds of friends and don't want to click on everyone, one by one, to invite them to a new group of yours.

Select and copy this code:

javascript:elms=document.getElementById('friends').getElementsByTagName('li');for(var fid in elms){if(typeof elms[fid] === 'object'){fs.click(elms[fid]);}}

Go to your event/group/page, click invite people and then paste this snippet in the URL field of your browser. Left-click the mouse in the URL field and hit Enter. Your invitations will not be sent yet, but all your friends will be selected. Click the “Invite” or “Send” button on the Facebook page to finally send the invites. Underground

Apple Preview for iOS 7

Apple just announced iOS 7, the new operating system for iPhones and iPads that will be available as a free download later this year.

It's a massive overhaul of the iOS you're probably used to –– a top-to-bottom redesign.

As previous reports have stated, the new iOS adopts a "flat" design with a bright color scheme. That means design elements on the iPhone no longer mimic real-world objects.

All of the standard apps that come with the iPhone like Mail, Phone, Messages, Calendar, etc. have been redesigned with a cleaner look. We've included photos of iOS 7 at the bottom of this post.

There's way too much new in iOS 7 to go over right now, so here's a breakdown of the most important stuff:

Control Center: This menu appears when you swipe up from the bottom of your screen. It lets you control basic settings like WiFi, Bluetooth, and screen brightness. It even has a flashlight option.

Multitasking: Now all apps can make use of full multitasking. iOS 7 is smart enough to manage the apps without draining your device's battery. This means you can pick up where you left off in any app. There's also a handy swiping gesture for closing out apps.

Safari: The Web browser has a much cleaner look. It also has 3D tabbed browsing that makes switching between windows easier.

AirDrop: Lets you swap files with other iPhones and iPads via WiFi.

Camera: The camera app has a new look that makes it easier to switch between each different mode. There are also several Instagram-like filters built in.

Photos: The new photos app can automatically build new albums for you based on when and where you snapped the photo. You can quickly share your photos via iCloud, Email, Facebook, or Twitter.

Siri: Siri has a new design too. It can control basic functions on your phone like brightness. Apple also integrated Bing search results.

Car integration: iOS 7 can sync with certain cars, giving you full control of your iPhone while on the road.

App Store: Apps now update automatically. You can also search for apps based on what's popular in your location.

Music and iTunes Radio: The Music app has a new design and includes access to iTunes Radio, a streaming radio service similar to Pandora. iTunes Radio is free, but supported by ads.

Security: A new security feature lets you wipe all the data from your phone remotely if it's lost or stolen. It also prevents the phone from being reactivated again unless the thief has your Apple password.

WiFi Calls: You can make phone calls over a WiFi connection. This will result in clearer calls that are less likely to drop.

Devices: iOS 7 will work on iPhone 4 or later, iPad 2 or later, and some newer models of the iPod Touch.

HTC Desire S: How to upgrade to ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) android version

The RUU (ROM Upgrade Utility) is an all-in-one package. This is how I use them...

1. Make sure HTC Sync is installed on the PC
2. Go to Settings>Power and make sure 'Fast Boot' is not ticked
3. Turn the phone off
4. Turn it back on whilst holding the volume down button to get to a screen with HBOOT on it (and 3 green Androids at the bottom)
5. Using the volume buttons select 'FASTBOOT from the menu and press power to select. The screen will change to say FASTBOOT
6. Connect to the PC and wait for Windows to install the drivers
7. Once the drivers are done, run the RUU and follow the instructions (at places where it says 'plug the phone in' ignore as it's already in)
8. It'll take about 10 minutes so just wait!

I had that several times before it worked. Here's what I did though....

1) Disable any anti-virus software running on the PC
2) Make sure USB Debugging is checked (as above)
3) Uncheck Fastboot (as above)
4) Power down the phone.
5) Press Power and Volume down

8) Follow the instructions
9) Go off and make a cup of tea
10) Sit and stare at your monitor and phone repeatedly.

How to Find Out the Date of Manufacture on Samsung Galaxy Device + Secret Codes

How to Find Out the Date of Manufacture on Samsung Galaxy Device + Secret Codes

All mobile phones, made by any manufacturer, have some certain set of codes that are used for specific purposes. Most of these codes are not meant for common users, and really  they really are of not much importance to most of us. I still remember the good old days with Symbian phones when we used to dial codes like “*#7780#” and “*#0000#” for hard resetting the phone and bringing out phone info. While most of such codes are not for an average or even advanced users, some of them are really important and we should take them down for future use.

Here I will be listing some of the secret codes for the range of Samsung Galaxy devices. Please note that all the codes might not work with all devices. Codes like *#06# and *#1234# are common to all phones, regardless of manufacturer but some are device, carrier and region specific.

How to Find Out the Date of Manufacturer:

The secret codes can be used for several purposes, such getting the info of your device, resetting call counter, manage connectivity and radio, getting battery data, software and hardware version, setting up touchscreen, testing some features, changing CSC codes, and lots more. Below, I will show you how you can know when your Galaxy phone was manufactured. You can try other options too.

Open your phone’s dialer and type the following code: *#197328640#*. In case it does not work for you, try this one: *#*#197328640#*#* . This will open the Service Mode menu on your Galaxy device. Select the option N. 2, that is“Version Info”. On the next screen, select ‘HW Version” (here HW means hardware). Now you will see another set of options on the next screen. Now tap on “Read CAL Date”, and bingo! You can now see the date of manufacture of your phone. In my case, it was August 21, 2012 as you can see in the screenshot above.

There is another way you can know the basic info about your phone through the IMEI (International Mobile Station Equipment Identity) number. Open dialer and type *#06# to get your phone’s IMEI number and type in in the box at this site.
