Instructions

 

1. Download and install ZiPhone (see Resources) by double-clicking and extracting the ZiPhone ZIP folder on your desktop.

 

2. Click on the "Start" menu button in Windows and launch the command prompt by selecting "Run" and typing in "cmd" without quotations.

 

3. Type in "cd Desktop/ZiPhone" in the command prompt and press "Enter." Connect your iPhone to your computer.

 

4. Put the phone into recovery mode. Press the "Power" and "Sleep/Wake" buttons on your iPhone simultaneously until you see the Apple logo, then let go of the Power button. Continue holding the "Sleep/Wake" button until you see an iTunes logo and a cable on your screen.

 

5. Type "ziphone -u -i a123456789012345" in the command prompt. Change the numbers to the IMEI code you would like to change. Wait for the program to locate the zibri.dat file. Your iPhone will automatically reboot and your phone is now using a new IMEI.

1.) Purchase a new logic board (including comms board + baseband) and replace. This will likely be pricey, but not as pricey as #3. The replacement of the logic board is also a somewhat complex process if you haven't done it before. Be careful so that you don't break things, it's easy to break stuff inside while messing around.

 

2) Purchase a new baseband chip and desolder the old one and replace with the new one. This will only work if the baseband chip itself is what is at fault. This also requires much more work and more equipment to complete successfully, but it will likely be the least expensive method to solve the problem if you already have the tools and experience. Again, this will only fix the problem if it is the actual baseband chip (and not any other part of the comms assembly) that is broken.

3) Bring the phone to Apple and pay $200 for them to replace the phone out of warranty with a new/refurbished of the same model. This will be the most expensive method but the only one guaranteed to end up with a working phone.

Last but not least, if you replace the logic board, the SHSH you had previously will no longer be of any use to you. If you replace the baseband chip, your SHSH should still be usable.
